Strap in the Lookout (or My Buddy) to your car seat using your seat belt. Imagine the Lookout (or the My Buddy) as a small "chair" sitting on your car seat. You do not need the shoulder part of your seat belt; just use the lap part. The lap part of the seat belt goes around the "waist" of the chair, just as it would around a person. The Lookout has V shaped grooves cut at the lap part where the back of the chair meets the seat (fanny) part of the chair -- or, put another way, grooves between the arms of the "chair" at the back and the back part of the "chair." Your lap seat belt will wrap around the chair like it would a person, if you fit the belt through those grooves. We provide a connecting strap which joins a harness on your pet to the seat belt. Imagine the strap as a leash, with a loop as its handle. The loop handle has a locking clasp. Unclasp it and place it around the lap part of your seat belt, and relock it. The other end hooks to the harness on the pet. This keeps your pet safe and comfortable. If you do not have a harness, please buy one from your local pet store or from us. See the Harness page to size the harness to your pet. We give one strap with each Lookout, two with the My Buddy, and sell extra ones Here. Do not confuse the harness with the strap. You need both. Please do use this product with a Harness. Either buy from us or your local pet store. Our only objective is that you understand the mechanics of the process; we are not out to sell harnesses, that's not our product, though we will sell you one as a convenience -- otherwise, please buy one at your local pet store to keep your pet safe. Please, always remember a pet, not being human, will never be able to react as humans do in cases of sudden stops and accidents to protect themselves.
