If you place this warmer on a cold concrete or wood floor, the floor will soak up most of the warmth, so best to insulate it from the floor with a piece of carpet or cardboard, or even plywood.  Suitable for dogs up to about 60lbs; however, when placed on top of a plush dog bed, dogs larger than 40lbs, because of their size, may cause the warmer to flex when the pet gets on it and off it, eventually causing it to tear or break.
