The SNOOZER®
Console Lookout is designed for pets up to 7 pounds (small) or up
to 12 lbs (large,SUV). The Highback is designed for use in SUVs.
All are designed to let small pets ride up front, in comfort with their
caretakers, while being protected against sudden breaking.
Before You Buy A Console Lookout Always Measure
Your Pet & compare its dimensions to our Console
Lookouts' Interior dimensions.
You will also need
to measure your console's exterior dimensions and compare to our Console Lookout
exterior dimensions. What we call the Large (SUV) Console may not fit all
types of SUV consoles. Some SUV’s may need what we call the Small (Car)
Console. Since all vehicle consoles vary,
the size you order will need to
reflect the size of the space available on your console in your vehicle as well as the
size of your pet... SO, always measure for both factors on Console
Lookouts
General Information:
Console seats are secured to the
vehicle’s console while the pet is attached with a safety strap from the
Console's seat to the pet’s harness.

the metal rails under each front seat to secure the containment straps.
Look at the Lookout below.
The
front (closest to us) has one strap threaded through the front end at the
bottom That strap goes
under the lid of the Console. The rear of the Lookout has a central
safety strap threaded through it. It is sticking up and from that safety strap hang two very
long containment straps (one is barely visible on the right side). In the middle of that safety strap is what we
call a "safety leash strap" with a hook at one end, much like the hook on
a leash. That is what is sticking up. Remember these labels for the straps, repeated again below.
So we have five straps:
The
safety strap at the rear; the "safety leash strap" in the
middle of it; two containment straps that hang from the safety
strap on each side, and one front strap.
The front strap that goes under the lid of the console prevents the seat
from tilting to the rear. The safety strap (which is centered and threaded
into the rear of the console is the connection point for the containment
straps underneath and it also attaches a safety "leash" to the dog,
anchoring the pet to the seat. The containment straps
are the straps that anchor the seat to the car.

INSTALLATION:
Place your Lookout on
one of the seats. Turn the Lookout upside down, and take the front
strap and loop it around the front and around the bottom; tighten it so
that it is fairly tight for later use when placed under the Console lid.
Now Place the Lookout seat
topside up as it should be, on the
console with the safety strap to the back end and the front strap facing
forward. Lift the console lid and wrap the single front strap under the
lid and tighten if needed. When the console snaps shut this strap simply prevents
the console from tilting and is not intended as security in braking or
accidents. Unlock the two containment
straps at the bottom on the left and right rear of the Console.
Starting in the
driver's seat where the cushion meets the back of the seat, Thread one
side of the left containment strap between the
upper seat back and lower seat "fanny" cushion threading toward behind the
seat, and thread the other side to the right of those seat and back cushions, between
the seat and the console itself toward the back of the seat.
Reconnect (lock them with the clasp lock) them into a circle at the back
of each seat. Adjust the straps to tighten the seat to the console.
Another option for
connecting the containment straps at the rear of the seats is the metal
railing under each seat. When your seat slides forward or back it
does so on a metal railing under the seat. Instead of threading the
straps through each seat follow this example:
Using the driver seat
side containment strap for example --
Open the loop and take
one end and bring it to the back of the seat; reach under the (passenger)
seat to your right, find the metal rail, slide the strap under and around
it, pull it out from under the seat and relock it to the other side of the
containment strap forming a circle. Do the same for the passenger side
containment strap, wrapping and locking it to the metal rail under the
driver's seat.
Once in position you may chose to leave
the containment straps there permanently even when removing the console
itself, so you don't have to repeat this process.
Notice that the back safety
strap that goes right to left at the back of the Lookout, has a "safety
leash strap" with a hook at one end, and a clasp lock at the other
attached in the middle to the safety strap This safety
leash is attached to the harness on your pet.
DO NOT ATTACH IT TO A
COLLAR. Using a collar versus a harness may choke your pet.
Tighten the safety
strap leash to keep your pet in the seat until he/she realizes its comfort.
To remove the seat,
simply open the lock buckle on the containment straps where it locks to
the safety strap and remove the seat. Close
the buckles and leave the containment straps in place for use later.
